Board-Eligible Orthopaedic SurgeonDr. Berenfeld specializes in the disorders of the hand, elbow and shoulder. He is trained to perform such minimally invasive procedures as endoscopic carpal tunnel release, wrist and shoulder arthroscopy. He also specializes in microsurgical reconstruction of injured nerves and blood vessels in the hand and upper extremity, including reconstruction of major hand trauma and replantation of severed digits. Dr. Berenfeld is particularly interested in surgical treatment of fractures of the distal radius (wrist) that have become extremely common with increasing incidence of osteoporosis.
Part of Dr. Berenfeld's expertise is reconstruction of arthritic joints, including joint replacements of the shoulder, elbow and small joints of the fingers. His orthopaedic surgery training allows him to remain active in treating general orthopaedic injuries as well. Dr. Berenfeld is currently one of the team physicians for Rye Country Day School football team.
